As individuals, we have our own individual ego which is a reflection of our physical life. Its primary purpose is to protect oneself and one's interests. Such egos also exist within various groups of individuals and are then referred to as group egos and often have a leader or a superego.

For example, a Nation or a State is a group consciousness made of many individual members who elect a group ego called the Government and a superego called the President or the Governor. Group ego and superego are always a true reflection of the majority state of mind and thinking of the group consciousness called the Nation or the State.
